October 2009 Newsletter
Lets begin with saying a BIG THANKYOU to everyone who attended and sponsored the 2009 Charity Show. We’ve still got sponsorship money to come in (that’s a reminder people!) so as soon as its all in I’ll be plastering the total raised all over the net and in the next newsletter! The cheques for Marie Curie and Candlelighters will be presented at the Presentation Night. I hope you all liked the sashes and had a good time. (my legs still haven’t recovered from the Horse + Hound jumping – and thank you Chloe for letting me run all that way – I’ll take Ezra next time! lolxxx) If anyone has any ideas for next years charity please let us know at (or by) the AGM – see below!
Equine Car Boot was well attended with 12 cars selling and a wide variety of goods on sale, I’m sure that lots of bargains were snapped up!
Laura has invited us back for another sale this time on Sunday 15th November from 11am (so you have time to ride before) Again its just £5 per pitch and we hope to see lots of you either selling or spending (or both) !
We’ve also had our Treasure Hunt (in association with Shibden & District Bridleways Association) last weekend. It seems that a good time was had by all. Photos are on our Facebook site and an event report can be found on our blog. Massive thanks to the Robinson family for allowing us use of their land for the event and for providing the very yummy burgers & sausages for after. Also, thank you to The Riding Habit for providing Hi Viz prizes for this event!
Have you checked out our new blog with up to date reports on events and news from the equine world (May I recommend the feature on Ms Hand to all gelding owners!) Big thanks to Kate Bell who is managing this site – check out http://shibdendale.wordpress.com/
Enclosed you will find details of our Winter Dressage Series – again to be held on the nice big outdoor arena at Royds Hall, Low Moor. Our massive thanks to the Anderson family for allowing us use of their facilities once again. This year we are going to award points and hold a dressage presentation in April with trophies and special rosettes. So to collect points you need to compete at 2 or more of the series – but enter the same section! So if you want to do Walk + Trot (Section A) enter that section at each event – you can of course enter more than one section. If you know any non-members who like their dressage, if they would like to join and collect points they can become a ‘Winter Dressage SDRC Member’ for just £6.00 – this will entitle them to reduced entry rates, points and newsletters from the club!
Please make a note in your diary about the club AGM on Tuesday 27th October at The Shoulder of Mutton, Nothowram. This is so you can find out how the clubs doing, plans for 2010, ideas can be put forward and new members can join the committee. We’d love to see you at this one!
