sdrc rules
The organisers and landowners can accept no liability for anything that may happen to competitors, on lookers, their servants, their horses or any other property in connection with this or arising out of this show.
The judge’s decision is final ; the only exception to this will be where scores have been added up incorrectly, or by proven cheating by a competitor. We cannot under any circumstances overturn a judge’s decision which is based upon an opinion – for example showing classes. Any other kind of complaint must be made within 15 minutes of the end of the class and be accompanied by £15.00. This will be refunded if the complaint is upheld.
No Cantering or galloping on the showground at any time- apart from in the designated areas (collecting rings or showing rings)
All horses and ponies must be 4 years old or over to compete in ridden classes, or to be ridden on the showground.
Riding hats must be to the current standard and must be worn at all times whilst mounted on the showground. Failure to do this will result in the offender being asked to leave the showground.
Suitable footwear must be worn when riding on the showground.
No spurs to be worn in any class.
Competitors wishing to collect points at the points shows must be members of SDRC 7 days before the date of the show.
Competitors must also enter the same combination of horse/ pony and rider/ handler to collect points in classes where points are awarded.
Riders ages and horses ages are taken at the 1st January of the year in which they are competing.
Lorries and trailers must not be mucked out onto the showground or parking field.
Dogs must be kept on a lead at all times.
The committee reserve the right to remove any unfit horses/ponies from the showground.
SDRC will not tolerate bad language, misbehaviour, misuse of or cruelty to any animal. Offenders will be escorted from the showground.
All stallions and colts must be handled by a responsible adult at all times.
The committee reserve the right to cancel, amalgamate, add, alter or change any class.
No refunds will be given once a class is entered.
Whilst the organisers will do everything within their power to avoid any clash of classes for competitors, it is inevitable that this will occasionally happen. If a competitor misses a class because of such a clash refunds will not be given.
In lead rein classes the rider must be a member of SDRC to collect points.
Novice Classes ( except Equitation- see below ) are for horses/ponies that have not won a first rosette in that class – once you have won a first rosette in a novice class you may continue to compete in it until the end of the season, but will not be allowed to enter the class in following years except on another novice horse/pony.
Novice equitation/Absolute beginners equitation is judged on the rider only, not the horse or pony, and these classes are for riders who have not won a first rosette in any showing class – once the rider has won a first in these classes they can continue to compete in them until the end of the season, but will not be able to enter them in following years.
Members must wear their membership badges in the ring at all times, you will not receive your points unless you have proof that you are a member of SDRC and you are wearing your badge. If you lose your badge, another one can be purchased at a cost of £2.00
It must be appreciated that it is impossible to write a rule to cover any eventuality. Where the decision cannot be found in these Rules or the Rules of the relevant Show or Breed Society, then the Judges or Organisers will attempt to find a solution that accepts the spirit of the competition. Where this happens there will be no appeal.
